Mobile Phone Tracking via Cell ID

How does Cell ID work?

Cell ID is the location information held by the mobile phone networks. In order to route a mobile call to the right mobile phone, the network needs to know which base station the mobile phone is connected to on the network. This information is used to approximate where your phone is by giving a range of possibilities related to the coverage of the mobile base station you are connected to. This is normally represented by a circle on a map. Some networks also deliver Enhanced Cell ID, which also gives an approximate direction and distance from the base station, and therefore improved accuracy.

Cell ID Location will work with any phone regardless of model, as it relies on data from providers as opposed to the handset itself. All you have to do is register and start using the service with no need to change your handset! Once registered, download the simple-to-install Java application and log in using the ID and password we will provide.

This service is currently available on most GSM networks in the UK- currently Vodafone, O2, BT-Mobile and Orange, with T-Mobile going live shortly.

It should be noted that consent is required from a handset's user before it may be tracked.
